About Osarobo Ighodaro

Dr Osarobo Ighodaro (Ph.D) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Benin where he has been a faculty member since 2009. He is the current Head of Department.

Osarobo obtained a B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Lagos and an M.Eng Thermal Power degree from the University of Benin. He completed his PhD at Newcastle University, UK in 2016. His PhD thesis entitled: Modelling and Simulation of Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and Their Integration in Hybrid Gas Turbine Plants was completed under the supervision of Professor Kieth Scott. During his days in Newcastle, he worked as a senior support staff at clear-links UK, an education support firm to higher institution students, he also worked at British Telecoms (BT) UK.

His primary research interest lies in the area of power generation, optimization of integrated hybrid energy systems, renewable energy, jet engine propulsion and energy utilization systems while his secondary research interest are in nanofuels, artificial intelligence, high temperature fuel cells and batteries. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciples of engineering science particularly in the area of renewable energy studies, analysis and performance optimization of existing power plants and solid oxide fuel cells.

Before joining the University of Benin in 2009, Osarobo lectured at the department of Mechanical Engineering, Igbinedion University. He has held numerous administrative positions including head of department, post graduate seminar coordinator and served in a number of university based committees. He has authored several publications and made presentations at several national and international conferences

He is a fellow of the National Institute of Professional Engineers and Scientists, and a member of some national and international professional bodies including the Energy Institute United Kingdom, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers and the Institute of Chemical Engineers. He has visited several countries including England, Scotland, Spain, Netherlands, France, Turkey, Benin Republic and Cameroon

He is a devout catholic and enjoys playing and watching football, hiking, reading novels, he also enjoys good food, beer and movies. He is a passionate fan of Newcastle United. He is married with two children.
